The new trailmaster Joey P. got to show off his trail making skills, and whoo whee, they stank!
We should have known something was up when we heard Joe grinning and muttering ‘good luck, guys’ at the start. After a very elaborate chalk-talk that went on and on, the pack finally took off. As is prescribed by tradition, I’m note-less for this write-up and will have to resort to my memory, though it admittedly is quite excellent at remembering useless facts, so I should be just fine. I’d say the trail after not too long ended up in the park, where there were some cryptic checks. Oh yes, I think there was a boob check even. After sufficiently long enough, the trail then exited the park, where it got increasingly hard to solve. At one point we were actually along the Hudson, and those of us expecting to eventually end up back in the East Side were wondering how long this trail would be. After more tough checks (note, I think many of them were mid-block, with no marks for oh about a block and a half, that’s what made them trickier than usual) we stumbled into the on-in. Lo and behold, it was a West Side bar!
Yours truly had no business r*nning the trail, being only about half-recovered from a doozy of a cold virus. Luckily a fellow hasher lived nearby and offered showering facilities. Of course such a bold maneuver rarely goes unpunished, but my reply to the purists who take offense is (raspberry). Down-downs were first to Joe P, for his trail that was less than stellar judging by the crowd’s boos. I don’t recall many other down-downs, but there was at least one visitor, and a fair number of virgins I think. Of course yours truly and Sure Likes to Ball, the host of said shower, had to drink for the offense. Likely there was a random abuse of power down-down, I could guess at who got it but I’d likely be wrong.
With the increased Friday night hash cash, it unsurprisingly lasted a good long time. I think until midnight. In hindsight it was all kind of fuzzy you know, but then again what good GGFM isn’t?
