The Truth: OfficialOrgan of the Greater Gotham Full Moon   HashHouse Harriers G2FMH3 Hash #220 – Friday, February 6, 2009   Hare: Virgin Hare Sari and Wet Willy Start: Subway Bar on 60thand Lexington On-In:  85th and 1st – Ryan’sDaughter Scribe: Just Boozer It was a cold night in Gotham, the wind howling down the avenues. We were to seea lot of those avenues this evening, crossing back and forth searching (oftenin vain) for the scant chalk that marked our trail. But I get ahead of myself…   Our hash began mostly on time, mostly uninformed and mostly cold. We headed due east down 60th Street with F.A.D. takingthe early lead. Our pack hustled along at a brisk pace until we neared a bridgethat would take us out of Manhattan. But isn’t this the Gotham hash? Indeed. We were thankful(for once) to have a backcheck. And we headed back to find the pack togetheronce again, a more grumbling pack mind you, but we were together again.   The trail continued darting backand forth across those windy, icey, Upper East Side avenues, eventuallybringing us to Central Park, the very core of Gotham. And this was the point when all became fraught. The pack scrambled too and fro, looking for signs of trail. Marks were few and far between. Brave souls whowent off to check for trail often did not return. Had they found trail? Did thefall? Were they overtaken by the ever-silent Living Statues, never to be heardfrom again? Another hasher and I were weighing these possibilities after ourdesperate calls of R U?!?! went unanswered by a particularly belligerenthasher. As we turned back to retrace our...

The Truth     Official Organ of the Greater Gotham Full Moon Hash House Harriers G2FMH3 Hash #217  – Friday, December 12, 2008   Hares: FMIG and (mystery visitor) Booty Call Start: Beauty Bar on 14th Street by 2nd Ave.On-In:  Flannery’s Bar on 14th Street by 7th Ave.Punk Ass Bitch (Scribe): Pussy in Boots Once upon a time in the magical land of Manhattan, there was a Hash.  Or at least that’s how it was supposed to be.  All the r*nners met a special bar full of wonderful elixirs, to keep people warm on chilly nights.  It was the happiest of hours inside the Beauty Bar, and the r*nners whispered of making beer flavored sno-cones.  Adventure!  Excitement!  A Cast of Dozens! The starry night air was crisp and hushed with the promise of oncoming snow.  A visiting Hare was coming to lay the trail.  Another surprise lay in store, as with baited breath, the plucky Hashers waited for the trail to begin.  And waited.  And waited until a healthy 7:45pm.  Suspense!  Thrills, Spills, and Madcap Antics! With cheerful assistance from FMIG, the visiting Booty Call laid a tricky trail, with ‘four-and-you’re-on’ instructions, unmarked falses, and perilous journey winding through the East Village, meandering across NYU, plodding along the West Village, and vague insinuations of Chelsea.  Egads!Splat intrepidly forged ahead off trail at the first opportunity, thus circumventing danger and nonsense.  In solidarity, I joined him, for as I always say, safety first!  We zoomed past crowds of lollygagging tourists, flew over refuse laden indie-rockers, salt-encrusted potholes the size of most mid-size Buicks, and bowled over bawling undergraduates, before getting quite nearly...

The Truth     Official Organ of the Greater Gotham Full Moon Hash House Harriers G2FMH3 Hash #216  – Friday, November 14, 2008  Hare: FMIG and Emperess NormaStart:  Subway Bar, 60th & LexingtonOn-In:  R Bar, Meeker & Graham Ave., BrooklynPunk Ass Bitch (Scribe): Dan Wix It was a steamy night, strange for November, but it was to be expected for the celebration of four more beers.  The hash started at the oh so seedy Subway Bar in where we were delighted by FMIG’s witty antics and the promise of a fantastic run (mostly from headlights who was there waiting for us, beer in hand).  Leaving the bar we found that we were heading not into Manhattan but, yes, across the Queensborough Bridge.  This hot steamy night was about to get more steamy, what with checks in the middle of bridges and hashers stripping left and right, or was that just Dan.  As the trail continued through queens, and then across yet another bridge the Pulaski into Brooklyn we were bedazzled with the frolicking of the dynamic duo consisting of Meredith and Brittany who spun and twirled with gay delight at every opportunity they could find.  You could also spot topless hashers shedding clothing from the steaminess.  We were greeted at the end of the Pulaski Bridge with a lovely concoction delivered by Pussy In Boots.  The trail continued through Greenpoint and into Williamsburg where we ended up at the R bar, not without more dancing and frolicking from the dynamic duo of course.    The Hares, FMIG & Empress Norma, were greeted at the circle with much booing for...

GGFM #219 – Annual New Moon/Flashlight Hash

GGFM #219 – Annual New Moon Hash Hares:  Just Scot (or is he?) ‘Scooter’ Gleason and Crazy Bob Start:  96th Street & CPW On-In:  Patrick Ryan’s Scribe:  Manslave I thought I could do it.   Not having been to a Full Moon Hash for a while, I thought I could get to the start, do the run, sneak past the JMs and loiter at the on-in unnoticed.  Didn’t work.  So now, here I am, doing the write-up.   Having been bouncing around the apartment for the last several weeks (didn’t I see a H.O.P.S. Email recently?) I thought the weather had turned warm enough for the annual Flashlight Hash.  Nothing like an opportunity to run around Central Park at night, in the dark, after an unexpected January thaw.  I grabbed Sarah Down Under and took the cross-town bus to the West side and then strolled up to the start.  Not a big crowd when we arrived at 7:15.  There was Dogface, Joe Pennsylvania, FAD#5, Pussy Repellant and a few newbies.  Some familiar faces gradually started to arrive: Trish H, Marie W, Maribeth, Empress Norma, Pussy In Boots, Peter T, Fire In The Piehole, Tit-Totaller, Leslie B and Heather are some that I remembered.  Crazy Bob and Scooter Gleason, the Hares, soon checked in and we quickly started to get ready for the run.  After a lengthy virgin and visitors chalk-talk, we were informed of some of tonight’s details.  The trail was marked in chalk, toilet paper and Organic Ketchup (at least the squirrels and the rats would have delicious condiments this evening).  We were also being treated to a YBF...

GGFM #215 – Halloween

The Truth     Official Organ of the Greater Gotham Full Moon Hash House Harriers G2FMH3 Hash #215  – Friday, October 31st, 2008  Hare: Scot Gleason and Red-Headed SteveStart: Suspenders, 111 Broadway, NY, NYOn-In: Suspenders, 111 Broadway, NY, NY (A to A) Scribe: Scribe (Punk Ass Bitch) Hoboken Dave with random and rambling contributions by Just Boozer TrailThe trail was a pretty standard one…except with more drink checks…more costumes…more back checks…more rats…and too long for Halloween…you get the idea. What better place to start than the beer checks? Beer Check 1: on the west side near the river and the bridge to nowhere (near Battery Park City).  Drink: Pineapple Blueberry Champagne (with lots of food color). Some people lingered here and I’m suspicious that some people just went straight to Beer Check 2…wise ones those! We proceeded on to a back check on Beaver Street…did it ever end? Sometime around here an extra-crazy lady assaulted Father Malcolm with his pliable, willing boy friend. She called him a Freak amid much rage and fury…although, come to think of it, perhaps she was on to something? We continued on through South Street Seaport and encountered lots of unnecessary stairs. A random teenager started running with us, and then decided on a better form of rebellion once we got lost at a check. And now we move on to the Heart of Darkness… Beer check 2: Rat Alley.  This is worth some description:  The alley began with an impending sense of doom as the hounds moved into the dark and stinky liminal world of Rat Alley. The sense of revulsion became yet more heightened upon...
